Review the Membership Covenant for more info:
Qualified men and women may serve as deacons. According to 1 Timothy 3:8-13 they are to be mature, honest, and self-controlled. They are to be members of LifePoint Church, in accordance with all that the Membership Covenant entails. They are to serve as a part of the body before serving as a deacon; thus proving their character and competence. These high standards speak to the value that this role is to God and to his church. In the Reformed tradition, deacons are ordained by the pastors and the elders of the local congregation.
